Nutrition advice for everyone

Kids Nutrition Workshop

Kids Nutrition Workshop is conducted by an APD. Each workshop has a theme which relevant to children.

Today children are presented with more food choices than ever before but getting them to eat their ‘fruit and veg’ is no easy feat – just ask any parent!

Some children don’t eat enough, whilst others only consume certain types of foods which is why the Sydney Dietetics team developed a specialised food education workshop program just for children - entitled ’Kids Nutrition Workshop'.

These workshops offer children invaluable nutritional advice and address common diet and nutrition myths. In particular, children will gain a better understanding of buzzwords and slogans like superfoods, low GI and low carbs and the hidden chemicals and preservatives found in processed and fast foods will be explored in a simplified manner.

Through this unique series of workshops, the Sydney Dietetics team will help children view food as part of daily life; children will learn that food is nourishing, gives them energy and helps them grow and will explore a smorgasbord of colour, tastes and textures rather than just ‘good’ and ‘bad’ food.

By participating in these workshops, children will understand the long-term health effects of excessive consumption of salt, fat and sugar and will learn to think critically about attractive food packaging and television advertisements.

Each workshop will be facilitated by an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and will include an interactive lesson which will involve completing a worksheet.

Children will then be invited to view a cooking demonstration with the facilitator, who will break each recipe down into a series of easy to follow steps. Following the cooking demonstration, children will head to their own workstations and create the dish. At the conclusion of the class, children will enjoy their dishes together as a group.

Sydney Dietetics believes it is vital for all children to develop a healthy relationship with food; whether your child is a fussy eater or inquisitive about nutrition – these workshops will tap into their natural curiosity and equip them with the knowledge and skills for happy and healthy life.

The lessons they learn from these Kids Nutrition Workshop will last a life time!
